Fendi paid tribute Thursday to the late Karl Lagerfeld with an ethereal haute couture show overlooking the monumental Colosseum.
Hollywood A-listers Susan Sarandon and Catherine Zeta Jones, had front row seats along with Italian fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni and her rapper husband Fedez.
The collection for next fall and winter, dubbed “The Dawn of Romanity,” drew on smoky granite patterns, mosaic compositions and architectural details that evoked the palatial floors and ceilings of Rome. A live singer provided haunting background vocals to the show.
From the first look — a white suit with blousy sleeves and creased trousers with soft side slits — the silhouette was disciplined.
A Dalmatian fur was later paired with sheer trousers. A laser-cut leather dress was belted prettily at the waist. Evening dresses had sheer bodices with crisscrossing straps over granite-shaded under layers.
